About

An independent magazine about how New York, Los Angeles and Toronto eat out.

Dine Digest is an independent culinary magazine covering New York, Los Angeles and the Greater Toronto Area. We follow the chefs, rooms, counters and neighbourhoods that shape how a city eats.

What we are, and what we are not

We are not an alumni bulletin, a university newsletter or an academic digest, and we are not a guide to roadside diners. The name refers to how a city dines: the chefs, the rooms, the kitchens and the ingredients.

Source grounding

Every restaurant links to a public source, almost always its MICHELIN Guide listing, with the date we checked it. We do not inflate ratings or imply access we do not have.

Evidence boundaries

Distinction, address, cuisine and price band come from the listing. Where our earlier copy disagreed with it, we corrected the copy; where a listing is gone, the story says so.

Price as context

Price is not a footnote. Every story carries the guide’s own price band, from $ to $$$$, so you know the size of the night before you book.

The life of the room

Beyond star tallies, we describe the room: the counter, the fire, the pacing of the kitchen and the people who run it.

Partnerships

Editorial stories cannot be bought. Each chapter of an issue has one labelled partner slot; in September 2026 every slot is open and unsold, and no brand sponsors any issue. A partnership, when there is one, is labelled on the chapter opener and never changes which restaurants appear.

Questions

How are restaurants chosen?

From verified public listings, chiefly the MICHELIN Guide, combined with our own reporting on kitchens, rooms and the people behind them. The September issues cover 61 restaurants across two editions.

Can restaurants pay to be featured?

Never. Commercial partnerships sit under explicit labels and do not influence which restaurants appear or what we say about them.

How do I read an issue?

Scroll it like a magazine, or use the dock and the Contents sheet to jump. Press / to search, J and K to turn pages, and use the moon button for night reading. Every headline also opens as its own page, ready to share.
