Alo keeps its French line three floors above Spadina.

At the corner of Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, guests step into a quiet brass-lined elevator and ascend to the top floor of a 19th-century Victorian building, stepping into an airy cocktail parlor framing downtown streetcars below.

Chef Patrick Kriss synthesizes classic French saucing with Ontario's seasonal rhythm: butter-poached Nova Scotia lobster bathed in silken vin jaune reduction, sea bream crudo with Meyer lemon, and Miyazaki A5 Wagyu glazed in jus infused with foraged forest mushrooms.

Hospitality operates with clockwork choreography; sommeliers glide between tables pouring biodynamic Jura whites and aged Grand Cru Burgundies, yet the dining room remains refreshingly convivial and unpretentious.

Since 2015, Alo has set the benchmark for modern Canadian fine dining, proving that Toronto hospitality can rival Paris or New York on its own terms.
